The Francisco Márquez Villanueva Library at Colegio de San Francisco de Paula is a learning space that boasts an organised and centralised collection that contains all the information and materials the school needs for its educational work. It is supervised by knowledgeable and qualified staff and aligned with the school’s core values: respect and hard work.
We aim for the Library to be a dynamic resource centre offering an active information service with an essential role in learning. The Library will foster the autonomy of the students as users of the information and provide them with a social and cultural environment within the school.
Beyond the school context, there is a notable fact associated with the Library. It has a remarkable ancient collection with documents ranging between the 13th and the 18th centuries. The library has a high potential for researchers, as it is the fourth largest in Seville after the Hispalense University, the Colombina Library, and the Municipal Historical Archive. The documents are in a remarkable state of conservation due to the safety and maintenance precautions, essential to the continued existence of the collection.
The collection can be examined through the online catalogue (OPAC). The Library also offers interesting digital resources, such as Issues online, Britannica School and the image database Image Quest..
Library users can also use the Destiny Quest app at no cost. This app, developed by Follett School Solutions enables students to check, reserve, review, and create lists and bibliographies.
Since the school year 2017-18, there are a dozen single cubicles available at the Francisco Marquez Villanueva Library, all offering a broadband Internet connection.
