Last Thursday 13th October we celebrated the inauguration of the new Honorary Consulate of Luxembourg and the presentation of the new Head of the Post, Mr. Luis Rey Goñi. The event was attended by both collaborators of the School and distinguished personalities.
Among the functions to be carried out by the Honorary Consul of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg are to defend the interests of the Luxembourgers living in the western provinces of Andalusia and of those who come as tourists, to promote Andalusia in the Central European country and to foster diplomatic, social and commercial relations as far as possible.
The event was inaugurated in our flags courtyard, which symbolises the international character of the School and in which we represent all the nationalities of our students and collaborators, which total more than 30. There we were able to enjoy a speech by the Ambassador of Luxembourg in Spain, His Excellency Mr. Christian Biever, as well as by Mr. Luis Rey Goñi, both of whom emphasised that, despite the distance between these two regions, there are more links and ties of cooperation than those that differentiate us.
We were accompanied by prominent personalities such as the Deputy Minister of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification of the Andalusian Regional Government, Tomás Burgos Gallego; the President of the Consular Association of Seville, Fernando Franco Fernández; the Director of the Joint Research Centre Seville (JRC), Mikel Landabaso Álvarez; the Institutional Delegate of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) in Andalusia, Margarita Paneque; the Director of the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, Javier Menéndez Álvarez; the Managing Director of the Hospital Virgen Macarena, Miguel Ángel Colmenero Camacho; the Director of the Minerva Programme, Gracia Catalina Piñero; and the Director of the Port of Seville, Ángel Pulido Hernández, among others.
Thank you all for your attendance!
