We offer personal attention based on the following items for the benefit of your child’s education:

Done through meetings both tutorial and academic where we analyse the group’s dynamic as well as the student’s individual progress, and implement the necessary educational measures.

Currently, we have one teacher for every 10 students, which helps the monitoring of our students greatly.

From pre-school onwards, and especially in language lessons, there is an assistant teacher assistant who works alongside the subject teacher. This promotes linguistic immersion in the classroom and the development of spoken conversation. In many subjects, the classroom is divided to foster small group practice and experimentation. Thus, classes are divided into smaller groups in Spanish, languages, music, arts and crafts, technology, and sciences. In the latter, we promote laboratory sessions from the Year 4.

In recent years, in addition to increasing our faculty, we have invested in training our teachers for the great educational challenges that face us, among them that of providing individual attention to an increasingly diverse student body.

In order to meet common challenges, we provide training for all the teaching staff. However, we also accommodate individual requests from those teachers who wish to study particular pedagogical and methodological aspects further. Moreover, we encourage our teaching staff to attend national and international conferences and visit other teaching institutions to learn and share different educational perspectives.

The School will deliver additional tuition throughout the years of compulsory education and during Baccalaureate, i.e. from Year 1 to Year 13, to those students who do not meet the expected benchmarks in one or more subjects, provided they have followed the conventional learning paths, paid adequate attention in class, and studied as advised. We do this to try and develop the abilities, skills, and knowledge these pupils have not been able to learn at the same pace as their fellow students.

In fact, this support system is a key building block of the Colegio de San Francisco de Paula‘s education program, which is why we offer this service at no additional cost for the families. This is how we meet the needs and particularities of each student. In Key Stages 1 & 2, the duration of this additional tuition is 60 minutes, and it is delivered within the student’s regular schedule at the same time as the subject with which the student has difficulties. In some cases, the student will leave the general education classroom to go to individual tuition with the specialised teacher; other times the teacher will stay in the class with the general education teacher and take the students out for individual tutoring. In the all other Years, additional tuition takes place between the last period of the morning and the first of the afternoon. Sessions have a duration of 45 minutes/week for each subject. The School offers additional tuition in: Spanish Language, from Year 2 to Year 11; Mathematics, from Year 2 to Year 11; Natural Sciences, from Year 8 to Year 10; Physics and Chemistry, from Year 11 to Year 13; English Language (two forms) from Yera 2 to Year 13; Physical Education, from Year 2 to Year 11; Natural Sciences in English, from Year 8 to year 11; French, from thYear 8 to Yera 11, and German from thYear 8 to Year 11. The Pre-School offers additional tuition in the  Logical-Mathematical, n Communication and Language, and  Social Studies (in English) Areas. Access to these reinforcement sessions is decided by each subject teacher, after notifying the child’s tutor and family, and after the family has accepted. Depending on the student’s performance, the teacher can decide to recommend additional tuition at any time during the school year, always taking into account the total number of students who attend these sessions, which is limited. Likewise, students will exit additional tuition at the request of the subject teacher after the student has overcome his or her difficulties.

The School’s psycho-pedagogical Department plays a crucial role in our personalised education, both in tutoring and academic activities, paying particular attention to diversity and providing career counselling to the students. Above all else, however, the key role of the Psycho-pedagogical Department is to support the students during their formative years, acting as their beacon and guiding every student as they advance through the different stages.

They also play a key role regarding vocational orientation by organising and developing many support activities, such as attending conferences where the students can come into contact with many public and private universities that present their education programs there. In addition to these activities, there are also several sessions with each group where students receive information, guidance, and have their questions answered with regards to our Baccalaureate programs, as well as on how the PAU (University Entrance Examination) works and any other new information that may come out in each year. Of course, the Department produces an orientation report for each student. The School has multiplied by six the number of psychologists in the Department to facilitate the Department’s job. The student/psychologist ratio (217 students per psychologist) is six times above the Spanish average and places us even above the UN recommendations.

Our academic methodology fosters individualised attention and favours an inquiring mind guided by the teacher rather than the traditional lecture model. This approach encourages creativity and entrepreneurship. Clear examples of this are the personal projects students do at the end of MYP and for which they have personalised supervision.

Family involvement is essential for the School’s education project,  in particular regarding the student’s personalised monitoring. Through the Virtual Campus (available also as an app), parents can have daily updates of all the minor events that take place in the classroom and that impact their child, grades, exam and project dates, and after-school activities

The communication of more important matters is done through the tutor in meetings that could held at the request of tutors or families.  Additionally, there is a parent representative in every group-class, who distributes information on subjects of interest. Of particular interest is the Family School that organises activities often focused on the cooperation of parents, educators, and children.
