The Theatre Workshops facilitate the students´ integral development, optimising their capacities for creative expression and participating in collaborative activities. Through the dramatic game, simple improvisations and basic acting techniques, the participants develop their gestural, oral and corporal abilities favouring disinhibition and providing for effective communication. The Primary Theatre Workshop is not oriented towards creating actors nor is it centred solely around preparing a final performance which merely forms part of the course. It should be seen as a vital experience acquired through dramatic play.
The Secondary Theatre Workshops provide a playful setting where participants can express their feelings, overcome shyness, get rid of stress and inhibitions all the while developing imagination and creative ability. Having completed sessions in exercises of relaxation, breathing, vocalisation, exciting games, music and rhythm the students will take on the staging of a dramatic play. The participants will discuss aspects such as how to select a play, the choice of the characters and the acting interpretation while adapting a liberating, critical and constructive philosophy. Participants will also consider the components of the theatrical act such as sound, makeup, costume, decoration and lighting. The workshop will finish with the group´s representation of the play before an audience.
