Secondary PAI-MYP (Year 7 – 10)
Secondary Education (ESO) is taught according to the criteria and methodology of the Middle Years Program (MYP) of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB), a programme designed to foster the student’s breadth of vision, making them aware of the international reality and promoting their personal involvement in the progress of society.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program (MYP) emphasizes the intellectual challenge. It encourages students aged 11 to 16 to make practical connections between their studies and the real world, which prepares them for success in their future education and in their lives.
The Middle Years Program (MYP) helps students to develop both the interdisciplinary understanding and the specific of each subject.
The MYP culminates in the completion of an independent learning project. This work, of free topic, planned and developed without interference by the student, under the supervision of a Tutor, must be delivered at the end of the cycle.
It is a work of considerable length, which students develop over an extended period and helps them to consolidate their learning and encourages them to reflect on the results of their work. The completion of this work, which is voluntary to overcome the last level of the cycle, is nevertheless necessary for obtaining the MYP certificate awarded by the International Baccalaureate Organization.
As a novelty for the 2017-18 course, we offer an individualized option of long-distance MYP in three short periods of time. The design will be adjusted to the interests and needs of each student, in a process co-created by the family and the School.
In accordance with the Bilingual Programme of the Centre and coherent with the international dimension of the Middle Years Programme (MYP), ESO students (Secondary Education) receive more than eleven hours in English per week. These hours are a combination of classes and contact with the language. Natural Sciences, Art, Physical Education, Religion or its alternative and the language itself are taught through English. Similarly, students have the opportunity to study a third language: French, Arabic or German..
Qualification of our Teachers
Our Teachers are native speakers of the language through which they teach so that they can introduce the students not only to the language but also to the culture in which it has developed, fostering intercultural knowledge and understanding.
